Aim for the Highest

Pride of Parents and Past Students

Year 12 students across the state are sighing with relief as their ATARs have been released and future prospects are becoming a reality.

Following the success of Camden Haven High School’s Year 12 results, many parents and past students showed their appreciation of the local school.

“Keep teaching the students to aim for the highest!” said Erica Johnson, who graduated Camden Haven High in 2012.

She credited her success at the University of Melbourne and the University of British Colombia to the “valuable public education at Camden Haven High School.”

“Thanks for all the work [the school] puts in to help them achieve these awesome results,” said Sheree Phillipson, parent of a year 12 graduate.

“It’s the teachers that do it!” said Eliza Biggs, from the class of 2012.

She said the teachers fuelled her love of science, resulting in her studying a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning. She is now an Environmental Consultant working with some of Australia’s largest proposed solar farms.

“I’m so proud of you for getting to where you are,” said her Geography teacher Mrs Di Stevens, who was awarded at the World Teacher’s Day Awards in Port Macquarie earlier this year.

Kathlene Boyan, parent of School Captain Jedd, said he fulfilled the school’s motto of Aim for the Highest to reach his goals.

“Thank you so much to all of Jedd’s teachers, the office ladies and support staff who allowed to supported my son to grow and develop into a fantastic young man. I will be forever grateful,” she said.

Liz Skerritt, parent of School Captain Lillibett, recognised that the Year 12 students worked hard together to achieve their goals rather than competing against one another.

“We nurture a sense of community at our school,” said a spokesperson for the school.

“It is important than all students feel they belong and they can be supported here,” she said.

Teachers who mentored Year 12 students during the HSC were proud of their achievements and developments, regardless of the marks.

“It is a great school and one I am very proud to teach at,” said Mrs Kim Nicholas, social science teacher.
