Getting to school safely
Student safety is our priority. We encourage the whole community to be safe travellers on their way to and from school.
Parents are responsible for how their child gets to and from school. Plan ahead by discussing the following:
- safe travel routes
- how to share the road safely
- alternative arrangements for when unexpected things happen.
Bus travel
Students can apply for a bus pass at the school office and should be aware of road safety around buses. After school, students are supervised by a teacher as they board buses. Students that catch buses at 3:26pm may board the bus after the bell. Other students can wait in the quadrangle until their bus is called.
Students that catch a different bus to after school activities should board the bus last to ensure all students can arrive home safely.
The Busways website is a useful resource to view timetables, apply for a replacement bus pass or to find out more about buses to our school.
Car travel
Students that have their license may drive to school and park on Valley View Road. We expect students to drive responsibly and behave sensibly when driving. If there are any issues with student driving, please contact the school. Parents that drop students at school are asked to do so in the "drop off zone" and be aware of road safety.
Please drive under the 40km/h limit around our school. The following signs can be found at our school
No Stopping: under no circumstances are you permitted to stop here. Penalty $344 + 2 demerit points
No Parking: you may stop here for less than 2 minutes and remain within 3m of your car. Penalty $191 + 2 demerit points
Bus Bay: before and after school our turning circle is a Bus Zone and cars are not permitted to enter or park here. Penalty $344 + 2 demerit points
Please be aware of signage at our school to ensure the safety and convenience of everyone.
Riding a bike
Students that ride to school are asked to respect road rules. Some paths near our school are shared, meaning they are used by both pedestrians and bikes. Students riding bikes on these paths are asked to be mindful of pedestrians and respect shared path rules. The school has a bike rack located near the school gate.
Students riding skateboards, scooters or roller blades can ride on pedestrian paths and be aware of rules.
Walking to school
We encourage students to walk to school for physical activity but should do so in a safe way. Remember to STOP LOOK LISTEN THINK before crossing the road. At our school there is a pedestrian crossing located in the bus bay area and students are asked to use this to cross the road before exiting the school.
