Students in Year 7 were treated to an end of year banquet in Mr Leach's Spanish class and Ms Pritchard's Japanese class.

On Wednesday, the year 7 Dolphins Japanese class enjoyed making their very own bento as part of the food topic they have been studying in Term 4. A “bento” is a Japanese-style lunch box where each section of the lunch box has food from a variety of different food groups. It is a healthy way of eating in Japan when taking lunch to school or work, and is a popular fast-food option over there. Some students prepared bento which had sushi in it. Others prepared rice in the shape of anime characters with various food colouring. Other styles of bento had chicken and vegetables put in them. There was also yakisoba (Japanese stir-fried noodles) on offer to taste, and the students are excited about making their own in the final week of term. Before sitting down to eat, students were given a lesson on how to use chopsticks so they could eat their bento and yakisoba in authentic Japanese style. Good job for their effort and everything was very oishii (delicious)!

In Year 7 Spanish class we transformed our classroom into a Mexican restaurant, "La Taqueria Tejana". Mr Leach cooked and served genuine Texas tacos with the assistance of Mr Rourke and Miss Aldous.

The classroom was buzzing with popular latino music playing in the background while students used their Spanish to request a table, order soft drinks, and their food. This was a great way for them to use the language they have been learning in an authentic situation and experience Hispanic culture at the same time.
