COVID-19 Advice

stop the spread

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared COVID-19 (Coronavirus) a pandemic.

As we all know, things are moving quickly. The Department of Education is working closely with NSW Health to ensure we have access to the latest advice on how to keep our staff, our students and community safe.

UPDATE 25/3/20 11:30am

We have issued a message to the school community about learning from home. Please follow this link to view the message and important information.

Busways continues to operate as normal.

 UPDATE 24/3/20

All year 7-10 Assessment Tasks have been postponed until Term 2. These students can submit assessments early.

Senior students (Years 11 and 12) assessment tasks will go ahead. Teachers will be giving the same learning at school and to those students at home to ensure equity.

Due to small numbers classes have been collapsed into year groups. Teachers will be providing the same learning to students at school or who are learning from home. These resources can be found on our Learning from Home page.

The office will not be able to accept any payments. Please use the online payment system until the end of term.

The canteen will be closed as of 25/3/20 3:25pm.

The school uniform shop will be closed until the end of term.

UPDATE 23/3/20 3:30pm

Students are encouraged to stay at home where possible, however we will never turn away students who need to study at school.

We are setting up provisions for students to learn from home, including a dedicated page on our website with links to course content. This will be emailed directly to parents/carers and students.

Thank you to all parents/carers for their understanding and patience during this unprecedented time.

 UPDATE 23/3/20 9:30am

Following Prime Minister Scott Morrison's press conference on Sunday evening 22/3/20, all schools are to remain open.

Parents/carers can choose to keep their students at home. If they do so, they are responsible for continuing their education at home. Students must be closely supervised and are required to stay at home at all times. Camden Haven High School will support those students in their learning. Staff are commited to continuing vital education in these times of uncertainty.

The Department has information for parents/carers about learning from home.

It is essential that during the upcoming school holidays, all Australians act on health advice to enforce strict social distancing to flatten the epidemic curve.

NAPLAN 2020 has been cancelled.

A press conference is scheduled for 2pm 23/3/20, after which decisions will be made regarding school operation and assessments.

NSW Health has a comprehensive FAQ page on Coronavirus.

Specific requirements are in place for people who have returned from a country or region that is at high or moderate risk for COVID-19, or think may they have been in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus.

All overseas travellers must self-isolate for 14 days after arriving in Australia.

How can you stop the spread?

As with all infectious diseases, it is up to those infected to manage the spread:

1. STAY HOME IF YOU ARE UNWELL

2. WASH HANDS THOROUGHLY AND REGULARLY

3. SNEEZE OR COUGH INTO YOUR ELBOW OR A TISSUE

Social Distancing

Social distancing is an effective measure, but it is recognised that it cannot be practised in all situations and the aim is to generally reduce potential for transmission. While practising social distancing, people can travel to work and school (including public transport).

How are we implementing social distancing at school?

  • Touching objects or surfaces (such as door handles or tables) contaminated from a cough or sneeze from a person with a confirmed infection, and then touching your mouth or face.
